⭐ From President John Terrell
Greetings LRGC Members,
It has been a busy month, with a great deal of work being done around the club.
During the last work party, John Besack used the backhoe to tear down the old sheds behind the Tan Building. Work crews then hauled the debris to the dumpster. John also dug a trench in preparation for conduit to the new storage containers, which will be used to bring electrical service to that area.
The Wednesday crew helped supervise the installation of the new playset, and work party volunteers spread mulch to complete the project.
General cleanup of the buildings and grounds is needed each month. Members are encouraged to come out, help support the club, and get their work hours.
LRGC is preparing waivers to be used at shooting events in the near future. These waivers will be completed by all participants. Additional information will be provided as this process is finalized.
Wishing everyone a safe and very happy Fourth of July as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation’s independence. Freedom is not free. Let us remember those who gave all for our nation.
God Bless America.
Thanks to all members for their help, support, and work in keeping this outstanding club running smoothly.
Hope to see you all come out and enjoy some time at LRGC.
Stay Well and Be Safe,
John Terrell

Hunter Trapper Education (HTE) Notice
by Frank Homer
Why Teach Hunter-Trapper Education?
Since 1959, hunting-related shooting incidents have declined drastically. Hunting is safe and getting safer, thanks to hunter education. By law, all first-time hunters and trappers, regardless of age, must successfully complete a six-hour hunter-trapper education training before they can buy a Pennsylvania hunting or trapping license. Individuals may take hunter-trapper education either through an in-person class or by completing an online class.
Legacy and Tradition!
During the last 15 years, Langhorne Rod & Gun Club has held more than 46 classes and has graduated over 1,140 students. We are actively seeking new Certified Hunter-Trapper Education Instructors to continue leading this important tradition of educating our future hunters and trappers. The Pennsylvania Game Commission is looking for knowledgeable and experienced hunters and trappers to teach both basic and advanced HTE programs. Volunteer instructors receive certification training, all necessary teaching aids, and materials including the easy-to-use, standardized curriculum.
Instructors must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED. If leaving a legacy of safe, responsible, ethical hunting is important to you, please consider becoming a Certified HTE Instructor. All applicants must pass a criminal background check and child abuse clearance check. Contact the Pennsylvania Game Commission HTE Team at 717-787-7015, or at pgchuntereducation@pa.gov for questions.

Just a little bit humid, not too hot, and an all-around fun morning with a real good group, and a real good time thanks to Josh and Company.

Youth Archery at LRGC
Submitted by Mark Lambdin
LRGC’s Youth Archery program gives young members and guests an opportunity to learn and practice archery in a safe, welcoming environment. The program is held on Fridays from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the indoor range located in the Tan Building. The cost is only $5, and bows and arrows are available for children who do not have their own equipment.
Youth Archery is open each week except on holiday weekends. Attendance is typically higher during the school year, so the summer months can be a great time for new participants to come out, give it a try, and get comfortable.
The Archery Committee is working on several upgrades to the range. Led by Wendy and Greg Zackowski and Jim Bucci, with support from Paul Karleen, Ryan Lorenz, Dave Steadfast, and others, the team is planning to upgrade several existing targets to “Big Shot” Vegas 900 4×5 targets. These improvements are expected to be completed this summer and will benefit both youth archers and adults who use the indoor range.
Young archers are also invited to try 3-D archery on the club’s outdoor course on the second Sunday of each month from March through November. Registration runs from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., and the range must be cleared by 1:00 p.m. Participants should plan to bring their own bows and arrows for 3-D archery, as loaner equipment is not available for that event.
The Archery Committee could also use some help repairing loaner arrows. As you can imagine, repeated use takes a toll on the equipment. Materials will be provided for anyone willing to donate some time and skill to help keep the program running smoothly.
If you are able to help with arrow repairs, please contact Wendy at 267-357-5628. Texting is preferred.

New Jersey Carry Law Guide
Club member, New Jersey resident, and frequent newsletter contributor Les Trzesniowski reached out to provide an easy to understand “NJ Carry Law Guide”.
As per The Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs, the organization that put it together, “ANJRPC’s NJ Carry Law Guide is just that — a guide. It is not legal advice, and should not be relied on as a substitute for legal advice. Use it to better understand the current state of New Jersey’s carry law, but know that pending court decisions could make this guide outdated tomorrow — but ANJRPC will update the guide in response to any changes.”

Preserving our club’s history and memories
Many thanks to LRGC Trustee and all-around good guy Scott Russell who has provided access to his extensive collection of decades old club newsletters for current members to enjoy.
Scanned copies of old newsletters from members emailed to the editors at editor@langhornerodandgun.com would be greatly appreciated and included in future newsletters.
Below, please find a couple of pages from the July newsletter from 43 years ago, during the club’s 43rd year.
I’m loving the “Pentathlon”, and that $3 fee!
Gotta wonder whatever happened to the Ham Trap Shoot, and I really want to know about those pre-meeting movies.

Some major projects were started by the work party this month. Consider helping out during the next event, 11 July, as lots of hands are needed.
